Blogging for Seventeen

OJT has been alattafan! LOL. Learned to tweak my writing style a little bit for the Seventeen blog. Check out Seventeen Magazine's Multiply account to see what I'm talking about. Click here for my first entry as an intern. Good thing they don't ask me to make coffee 'cause that's not exactly one of my strengths. Hahaha. ;-)

Back to Work!

I've had way too many days off waiting around for and getting nervous about my internship application. Good thing I finally got my second interview last week and was able to work right away. I don't know if I can blog as often here and on The CityLifeStylist, but part of my job is updating the blog site of the magazine I'm working for. I'll post the URL as soon as we get it updated!

Exciting, exciting... ^_^

Sweet Dreams are Made of Cupcakes and Krispy Kremes

I already shared my dream about chocolate banana cupcakes, and guess what? It became a recurring dream. It was on and off for a while until a couple of nights ago when I dreamt of doughnuts--lots and lots of them! Maybe it was because I wanted to go to the new Krispy Kreme branch opening the previous day. Then again, it's weird how I've been dreaming about all these scrumptious, mouthwatering baked goodies. Haha.

I don't really believe in dream interpretations but I looked it up online just for the heck of it. According to www.thejourneyofdreams.com, a dream about desserts such as baked goods and ice cream may "indicate the good things in life. Something special may be happening or will happen, such as a reward, gift [or] treat. [It] can also represent temptation."

I bet my dreams represent temptation--temptation to eat baked goods! Thank goodness it's already Monday. I'm getting the cupcakes I ordered from my classmate already. Haha.

I didn't even like cakes and doughnuts when I was a kid. Strange. I better keep going with Hip Hop Abs if I still want my clothes to fit by the end of the summer.

The Opposite of Writer's Block

I have finally been able to update my fashion blog and I still can't stop. I already have complete posts until April 5th and I'm writing more! I even published the entry for tomorrow already. I couldn't help it. Guess I really missed writing about clothes and makeup. It's pretty relaxing. Haha.

Oh, and now that my biggest hosting gig ever is over, I can really relax. Remembering faces of VIPs I've never even heard of before was the toughest part. Oh, boy. Good thing I didn't mess up. I sure had lots of The Devil Wears Prada moments that night! Phew.

My mini vacation also allowed me to catch up with high school friends. One of my best friends is back from New York and I hope we can hang out more before she leaves again. It's funny how my HS friends and I didn't even meet up the two months she was away, so it's as if she never left!

I plan to give them a taste of what my college friends and I have been treating ourselves to for the past months whenever we had free time: tapsilog at Rodic's, isaw at UP, more chow at Mang Jimmy's and dessert at Chocolate Kiss. Woooow. And how could I forget soul food at Mag:Net on Happy Mondays? I hope we have enough time for all that.

For now, I'm going back to my other blog. Check out www.thecitylifestylist.com for summer wardrobe ideas and more! ;)

Contact

I fancy the foam
That dares to spill from my
Mug to the coffee
Table
Like the melting ice
Dripping from the cone in your
Hand
A sudden cool sensation on your
Skin
So I can reach out and—

And I secretly wish you were holding
My hand under the table
After a long conversation about
Our lives and wasting it; glazed eyes and
Nervous laughter and
More laughing for no reason
But maybe out of
Simple glee
Giddiness we tried not to show
Sneaking right through our
Grinning and—

Gritting teeth,
Fists clenched as tight and small as
Our hearts
As hard as the table
That could’ve been made of
Steel; tough,

Indestructible like our hearts
That struggled to never give way
Never give it away
Never let a drop of coffee
Or melted cream
Waste all our efforts and—

And a sudden burning sensation.
You wipe my hand.

Huffing and Puffing...

...to Hip Hop Abs!

Okay, guys, let it out. Who's gonna be laughing when I get those rock-hard abs, huh? Haha. I doubt it. But at least I found the motivation I needed to get fit again.

My little sister joined in after laughing at me for about two minutes. Now that we've mastered most of the moves, we don't even have to pop in the DVD. We still do, though, just so we can laugh (not at but near) Shaun T. Hehe. Work-it-work-it-work-it! Are you feelin' it? Yeah! Hahaha.

It really is a great workout. The routines are a lot more fun than just doing crunches, but you'll get the same burning feeling afterwards. Err. I'll tell you more when the article gets published. Hehe.

Sweet Dream

Earlier this afternoon I fell asleep in the middle of my reading. (It's not the book, it's the bed; that's why I don't study in the bedroom.) The universe teased me with alcohol and my classmate Kat Santos' heavenly chocolate banana cupcakes. (Kat, if you're reading this, I'm going to order soon!) My classmates and I took turns taking big bites and sipping beer. How ladylike.

A very odd combination, indeed. Well, I didn't say I was going on a diet.

Blogging, Reading and Dancing Again

Ahhh... Summer. I won't let the heat get to me. I've got a few more days until job training begins and I'm savoring every minute of it.

Been catching up on my reading. I bought so many books during sem break--even more last Christmas and the Powerbooks sale--but I was too busy with academics, org responsibilities and work that I couldn't finish one (except for Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine for Lit class, which was a treat.) I started rereading The Bell Jar but right now I'm not even reading any of the books I bought. My friend Kash lent me Jeanette Winterson's The Passion and I've been jotting down lots of really nice quotes from the book--and I'm only on the second chapter. Maybe I should just get my own copy. Hehe.

I'm feeling a bit rushed, though, 'cause I'm also working on my next mag article due Monday. My friends can laugh all they want but I'm writing a review on Hip Hop Abs with Shaun T. It's actually pretty fun and you'll feel your tummy burning--that is if you don't cheat. Haha. The dancing part reminds me of my street dancing days. At least I'll be losing some weight after months and months of coping with stress and lack of sleep by stuffing my face.

Speaking of dancing, catch C*CATTitude II: Unifying the Hood on Monday, March 24, 6:00 p.m. at the Miriam College Marian Auditorium. C*CATTitude II is the (school)year-end concert of C*CATT (pronounced see-cat), the official street dance troupe of the Communication Arts and Advertising Department of Miriam College. Special guests include Company of One, Mapua Dancecom, DLSU Cadence Uprockin' Crew, UA&P ISA Dance Troupe, ODS Core, among many others. Tickets are at 150.00Php each.

For those who love fashion and food, on the other hand, do check out Chef and the Ramp, a culinary showcase and fashion show presented by the Society of Junior Entrepreneurs of Miriam College. Chef and the Ramp will be on Tuesday, March 25, 6:00 p.m. at the Robinsons Galleria Activity Center. For only 300.00Php, you can already get a good seat and have your fill of Japanese, American and Italian food. Special guests include Rajo Laurel and some of the country's renowned chefs. Oh, and friends, this'll be my first time hosting a fashion show/culinary arts showcase so I'd really, really appreciate your support. Heehee.

Sigh. I sure missed blogging. Decided to transfer my personal blog to Blogger/Blogspot because it's easier than having to log in to another account. I also wanted to start anew with blog entries with a lot less angst and mush. Haha.

Going back to my reading. Hip Hop Abs tayo mamaya! ;p

P.S. Will be updating The CityLifeStylist soon. :)

The Guardian of the Lost and Found

You look under your bed
Open and shut every drawer, every box
Every single container
Thinking, thinking
Scratching your head, thinking

It was not gray; it was neither white nor silver
It had, in fact, a pearly white finish
Which triggers another memory
Of laughter and classmates
And feeling a little left out.

You wonder where those people are
Who always had a great time laughing at you; nay, near you.
Hey, there goes another memory
Of real names and nicknames
And a professor making fun of the
Invisible person beside your classmate Marylou.

You look behind the door
You rummage through your old school things.
Alas! There it was,
Still looking as shiny as your flat leather school shoes
The capsule that held the memories you hold dear.

The Guardian of the Lost and Found snickers
Tumbles on the ground
Spreads his arms and wings...
And sighs.
Let's have another go, shall we?
